After you downloaded Little Tagger from the Mac App Store and launched it for the first time, you're presented with a short onboarding scene.
In order to use the tags from your system for tagging files and folders, you need to import them first, so that the app has a local copy of your tags. You do that by pressing the Import...
button, select com.apple.finder.plist
and Open
it. The file is already pre-selected to make the import easier. After import, your tags are listed on the right, with the total number of imported tags below. From now on, the app regularly imports your Finder preferences automatically in background to keep the list of tags up-to-date and in sync with Finder.

Importing your tags is important to get started. Equally important to us is having an engaged community and receiving feedback. The app is completely free of any trackers and analytics (apart from what Apple provides by default and cannot be removed by developers), that's why we completely rely on your feedback and suggestions. The easiest way is to join our Discord community, where you can chat directly with us and fellow users. You can also follow us on Twitter or contact us directly from the app. Lastly, if you want to share your experience, we are always keen to know how it was.

Also, if you haven't noticed it yet, Little Tagger resides in the menu bar. This is where you drop your files and folders to start tagging and access all other features. Learn how to Start Tagging
